A detailed Summary of love
Dual perspective is the conscious and systematic process of perceiving, understanding and comparing simultaneously the values, attitudes, and behavior of the larger societal system with those of the client's immediate family and community system. In making this comparison a social worker for example, can get a better idea of where a person is coming from and what they have gone through. For instance Shaunna comes from a family where here father was a Native American and her mother was white. A white American living on an Indian reservation was very unheard of in those days, so it was very hard for Shaunna's mother and father to keep it together. Shaunnas' family lived on a reservation that had little work which was the cause of the poverty that they lived in. While growing up Shaunna faced many difficult obstacles such a racism, ignorance, substance abuse, and hatred. In comparing Shaunna's dual perspective we will find a better understanding of what brought Shaunna to !
Shaunna grew up on a poor Indian reservation with a mother who was white and a father whose was Native American, this is a recipe for a very difficult childhood. The other Indians on the reservation did not take kindly to Shaunnas

In looking at Shaunna's nurturing system one can see how she became who she is today. On the Indian reservation she saw her relatives and everyone else on the reservation abusing substances on a regular bases. This was a way for the people on the reservation to escape the pain of real life. In seeing her people act in such a way gave her the feeling that there is something better out there. That there was something more She was also subjected to racism because she did not look like the rest of the Indians. This is ironic seeing as she was a Native American yet she looked different so the Indians treated her the same way that they hated to be treated by whites. One instance that affected Shaunna greatly was when she was in the library at school discussing with her cousin there plans for the future. They were both talking about the colleges that they wanted to attend and what they wanted to study. The librarian had been listening to the conversation and felt it was he!
All of this ignorance racism and frustration lead Shaunna to a point where she was very angry at everything. She says "I'm trapped between two worlds. Being forced to live in one, and needing to live in the other. I need to find some sort of balance, a middle ground where I can stand without feeling so much anger"(mo better education pg 75). Her nurturing system and her sustaining syst
