The story "Revelation" first introduces itself as a negative outlook on the Southerners way of life. The characters [Mrs. Turpin, "the pleasant lady," the "white trash," and the disturbed/silent Mary Grace] speak of African Americans as being a lower class and useful only when manual labor is involved. Later, however, the story twist into a belief that some people are worthy of God's (and everyone else's) praise simply because of their classification in the eyes of the people surrounding their everyday lives.
