The story of Daisy Miller concerns the contrast between American and European societies in the second half of nineteenth century. The story is focused basically on about the effects of social status on characters of the story. The most crucial characters of the story are Daisy Miller, Winterbourne, and Mr. Giovanelli. These characters have extremely different characteristics. Because controversy appears between their cultures in the story, especially between Winterbourne and Daisy Miller. İn the story, Winterbourne represents the European culture; he comes from a certain family and Daisy Miller represents the American culture whose father is different social scale and culture.

We can understand the issue about the difference between Daisy's and Winterbourne's social situation and culture better, if we observe both these characters. Daisy Miller, who is the heroin of the story, depicted as a young and beautiful American girl in the story. She is enchanting, forthright, independent and strong-minded. His aunt was very exclusive and she is an important person for Winterbourne. Her ideas and notions affect Winterbourne's ideas and also behaviors. It is emphasized in the story that; He had imbibed at Geneva the idea that one must always be attentive to his aunt. So in his relation with Daisy Miller, his aunt affected his vision a little bit negatively. Because when Winterbourne asked what his aunt's vision is about Daisy Miller and her family, her reply is so cruel for Winterbourne. İt says in the story that;

"The young girl is very pretty," said Winterbourne, in a moment.
