I'll be by the pool, playing with my guns
"I'll be by the pool, playing with my guns" Every man or woman questions their faith. Young Goodman Brown has perfect reason to do so. How would you act if in Goodman Brown's shoes? Brown is lured farther down the path because the devil figure tells him of his relations with Brown's father and grandfather. While telling Brown the details of said relations, there is one of particular interest. This being: "I have been as well acquainted with your family as with ever a one among the Puritans..." (52-53). Distrust in god, mankind, life, marriage, his culture, and the world. Why the distrust? Maybe being expected to be a certain way and to meet standards, and only to find out that these expecting people are worse than hypocrites. Also, having your father and grandfather before him, be acquainted closely with the devil. Though, never telling Brown of this and being quick to denounce Brown if ever to think of doing the same. Perhaps having your minister once as your role model, later to acknowle
