FDR

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, our 32nd president was born in 1882 on a Hudson River estate in Hyde Park, New York. He was the second son of James Roosevelt and Sara Delano. He was taught by private tutors and attended Groton, a prestigious preparatory school in Massachusetts for his education as a boy. He earned a bachelor's degree in history at Harvard and pursued law at New York City's Columbia University

He left Columbia University without earning a degree.

In 1905 he married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, a distant cousin. She was the niece of President Theodore Roosevelt, who gave her away at her wedding. Franklin and Eleanor had one daughter and five sons.

In 1910, he began his political career by being elected to New York State Senate. In 1913 he was appointed assistant secretary of the Navy. He was nominated for vice president with Governor James Cox of Ohio in 1920, but was defeated by


Another reason as to why I believe Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a great president is because he helped America get back on it's feet during the Great Depression without just simply handing out money. He had the people work for the money instead. Offering a hand up instead of a handout with the Works Progress Administration. I believe it is better for people to receive things by earning them rather than for doing nothing, and I believe that Roosevelt did a good thing by establishing the WPA.

Delivering an acceptance speech in 1932 for Democratic Presidential nomination, he pledged a "New Deal", devoted to relief, recovery, and reform. The Electoral College swept Roosevelt into office. He would then be elected three more times afterwards.
