Every year the news if filled with stories about school shootings and other violent acts that have occurred in schools. Society constantly hears about school bomb threats and rumors about possible school shootings. However, nothing is more terrifying when one of those violent acts takes place in one's hometown, for instance, the Littleton, Colorado shooting spree. In a study about violent crimes against teenagers twelve percent took place in school and twenty-one percent occurred on school property (Foster-1994 67). This means an approximate average number of crimes in school or school property is 500, 000 crimes a year (Foster-1994 68). These statistics suggest that in an average 180 day school year an approximate 2, 700 violent acts occur in a day.

Students will not be able to distinguish which students are bearing guns and therefore will not know if it is safe to pull out their weapon. Therefore, it will create a deadlock between the students. No one will be able to identify those with or without guns and no one will pull out a gun. Every student will therefore never be certain when to pull out a gun and will result in no usage of the guns. If the guns are not used then the number of sadistic acts dwindles and school shootings will soon end.

An advantageous solution must be made to alleviate the increasing problems of school shootings. A beneficial, realistic solution is every student has the opportunity to bring a gun or a carry a weapon in school. The students can not be stopped if they are carrying a weapon and will not get in trouble if they pull out the weapon. By bringing or carrying a weapon in school the number of school shootings and school violence will steadily decline.
