Othello

"I kissed thee ere I killed thee. No way but this

killing my self, to die upon a kiss" (Othello III iii .359)

Jealousy is a character trait that has brought down many men. Jealousy is not a learned trait it just kind of happens in an uncontrollable feeling. A feeling that eats away inside for a long time. When a man is in love with a beautiful woman and is totally devoted, it is a special thing that can easily be stirred by another's actions. Othello is one of these men who fell deep into a trap set by his so-called friend Iago that he could not escape. Othello indeed fell into the trap and is in part shouldering some of the blame, but he could have easily protected himself from Iago's schemes that tragically lead to the pain and suffering that concludes the play.

Othello is so deep in love with Desdemona that he let his head take over his heart. Othello said that "she loved me for the dangers I had passed, and I loved her that she did pity them"(Othello I.iii.169-170). This line describes his deep passion for Desdemona that portrays an unbreakable bond between them. Even though this bond is present Othello breaks the bond by disregarding his trust in his wife Desdemona. Othello made several

mistakes that could of easily avoided the suffering that ends the play. I am a firm believer in trust. If a man does not trust his wife the love they share is not as strong as

holy matrimony. Othello let his jealous head lead him into sin when he killed his only true love, his wife Desdemona.
