movie review
What one aspect of life can bring us endless happiness and a sense of fulfillment, but at the same time bring sadness and sometimes betrayal? The answer to this question is a priceless and fragile gift that everyone experiences-- friendship. Friends may come and go during one's life, but those that are true friends will stay forever. True friends bring out the best in each other, are loyal and honest, have a mutual relationship, accept each other, and are available and generous with one another. These qualities are best exemplified in the relationship between C.C. Bloom and Hillary Whitney in the movie "Beaches." According to Walter Winchell, "A friend walks in when the whole world walks out." This saying describes perfectly the way that C.C. and Hillary met for the first time and started a beautiful relationship. One of the roughest situations that Hillary and C.C. had to face was that of the deathly sickness of Hillary. C.C. spent the summer with her and her daughter Victoria and assumed the role of friend and also another mother to Victoria. C.C. also dedicated much of her time to taking care of Hillary and encouraging her not to give up without a fight. In the end, however, when she finally did lose her fight, Hillary revealed just how much she valued C.C. She wanted her to take care of Victoria. C.C. also revealed her loyalty to Hillary by accepting the great responsibility of raising her child. The friendship that existed between these two was very special and would live on in Victoria. and each was exposed to a small part of the others life. Hillary experienced first hand the great talent of C.C. and in turn, C.C. encountered the well-to-do life that Hillary led. Regardless, however, of their completely opposite lifestyles, the two accepted each
