In Aristophanes' play, Lysistrata, the Greek city-states were constantly warring one another. While the men were off fighting in the wars, the women were left at home to do all of the work themselves. One of the Greek women, Lysistrata, was so tired of being left at home while her husband was fighting in the war, she called all of the other Greek women in for a meeting.
