Eutopea
Is there such a thing as a perfect world or society? Is it out there waiting to teach and improve our quality of life? I claim to have seen one and can tell you of all its wonderful details first hand. My story starts during my summer break many years ago. I was flying to Casta Rica for a vacation with my family. Suddenly the plane started to shake and I could sense we were out of control and descending very rapidly. We were over ocean somewhere in the Carribean, later I found that it had been the Bermuda Triangle. The plane violently came to a crashing halt as it blew apart on impact. I was knocked unconscious and can only remember being hurled toward the front of the plane. I awoke with a very cold wet feeling and soar lungs of sea water. As I whipped the salty sand from my eyes, I noticed that it was high noon. More importantly I was alive and on land, in fact a beautiful beach of black sand. I first noticed that there were other foot prints, fresh in this sand!. I followed the prints and found them to lead to a great lush wood. Along the beach I found bones that appeared to be human, I was not worried much, but of more interest there were diamonds scattered about the path carelessly. I pi
I continued to walk and I passed many people who were tending to splendid flowers and herbs. The scent was most intense and seemed to get stronger as I progressed. Most of the plants that were growing in these beautiful expanses of garden were like nothing I had ever seen before. The people here seemed to ignore me and I felt no urge to try and interrupt them. They all seemed so content and smiling they were with joy. I felt compelled to continue walking down the moist mossy walk and so I did. I was drawn to the amazing structure ahead, a pyramid of emerald green crystal. It was more than a hundred feet tall and the base must have been five hundred feet wide. Around the structure was a shallow moat of clear water that smelled sweet. This was the source of the entire town's incredible fragrance. There was one place at which you could cross the moat over flat stepping stones. When I came to the entrance of this building I was pleased to find the large, carved, wood! cked a few for souvenirs and continued on my quest to find my family and makers of all these deep foot prints. I walked many miles and was intrigued by such unique vegetation and flora. There were orchids along the path of such vivid colors. I picked one to examen it more closely it was of an unknown species and had a scent that made me in some way feel happy and content. It was unlike any other scent I have ever experienced. I came to a small hill and looked out, and I was shocked to find what appeared to be a city of stone buildings. This civilization had no real name, for it was the only place they had ever seen. They had never witnessed the outside world and they were very behind technologically. This was not because they did not have advanced science, but because there was never a need for it in their society. Science took a new direction here. Rather than investigate and change the world, they explored themselves. Yes, they learned about themselves, and began to understand various aspects of medicine that we could only dream of. Their studies lead them to immortality. Using various herbs that they specifically hybridized they created a rejuvenating elixir. This potion is very tedious and laborious to create. It would take very specific plants and massive quantities of them to make such a potion. The potion has some adverse effects on the human body. First the elixir robes an individual of his ability to reproduce. Secondly the elixir must be taken several times weakly. If the elixir is n! you would find in a milk weed pod. At this time I found the source of the stench I mentioned earlier. Beside these men were a pile of rotting people, it was obvious that they were survivors of the very plane that I had been aboard. I felt trapped and ideas ran through my head. Would I suffer the same fait? Among the dead were the various members of my family. Upset
