Throughout this coming year and past years, many state legislatures will consider laws that could result in the legalization on marijuana. Many ideas have been bought up about legal buying and selling of this drug in society. Many people already use this drug legally in the states of Arizona and California for medical purposes. Some of the medical purposes for this drug are arthritis, and glaucoma. These laws should be adopted by the entire country.

Between 1850 and 1937, marijuana was quite widely used in American medical practice for a wide range of conditions. The United States Pharmacopoeia admitted marijuana as a recognized medicine in 1850 under the name Extractum Cannabis and listed it until 1942. The National Formulary and the United States Dispensatory also included marijuana and cited recommendations for its use for numerous illnesses to inc


Marijuana tends to be associated with crime, but this is because it is illegal wherefore if it was legal it would be the same as buying alchohol. Marijuana does not have a huge difference from being drunk either. It is a fact that today, the alcohol industry spends more lobby dollars than anyone other than the Department of Corrections to keep marijuana illegal.

Marijuana is associated with drug-dealers and the breakdown of some societies and neighborhoods. Marijuana gets most of this blame because it is referred to as the "gateway drug" wich leads to other addictions to cocaine, crack and other more dangerous drugs.
