The book Citizen Soldiers by Stephen E. Ambrose is an unforgettable testament of the WWII generation. Citizen Soldiers tells the hardships and triumphs of the United States military from the Normandy Beaches to the surrender of Germany. Stephen Ambrose interviewed many GI's and officers. Through these interviews Stephen Ambrose gave the reader a first hand experience on how WWII was fought.

At the beginning of the book Ambrose described the frustration of the soldiers during The Battle for France. As the GI's began to fight they realized that they were not ready to fight the Germans. The German tanks seemed indestruct
