"I'm a gambling fool"(Kesey 17), said Randal Patrick McMurphy. McMurphy is a man who has a free will. He never lets his guard down, McMurphy feels that people have a right to say and do what they want. Ken Kesey Portrayal of R.P.M as a "savior" in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, is that of a man who wants to help the patients of the ward take their manhood from the grips of Nurse Ratched.

To show the men that they have a say in what goes on in the ward. R.P.M asks Nurse Ratched if he can watch the World Series on T.V. He is given the chance to change the time that they watch T.V., by having to get the majority of the vote in the word.

R.P.M is a "savior" to the men in the ward because he shows them that they could stand up for themselves. This leds the men to believe that they can regain their manhood.
