Humans are designed to be a certain way. The human body can operate only on certain condition. If it becomes hot or cold, the body can adapt, unless the conditions are too extreme. In this case, the body fails to operate. The human mind is similar. It requires certain elements to survive. It needs to be exercised. If this does not happen, the mind dies, and a mindless automaton is left. A way to deny the mind its needs is isolation. It slowly eats at the mind like starvation does to the body.
