Justice in the civil rights movement, did it even exist? There is much to be learned about our nations citizens during this era. The attitudes, the actions and the emotions of others were all part of this "revolution" for rights. During the civil rights movement many ideas were being introduced and a different group of people were trying to express their beliefs. America, especially the south, was really tried during that time in history and still today. While many view it as a societal achievement others see it as a disgrace. This movement resulted from the accumulated emotions of animosity, suffering and humiliation from the African American community. Today many disregard it ever happening. One may ask, "How could American's treat each other that way?" Very few are able to realize just how far we have come; however, it can also be seen differently The African Americans dreamed of a life that consisted of freedom, justice and respect. Respect of those who lived in t!he same country, the country that they helped fight for. In order to begin the fight the activist in the civil rights movement needed a little guidance and inspiration. There are many among the leaders of the movement to praise but
believes is the only religion where man can really exist as a true "brotherhood." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ and fought for what they believed in. Through their speeches, actions and letters they were able to stress the importance of fighting for something one believes in. Dr. King did this through all of the aforementioned but this letter especially gave meaning to many. g the segregation and at the same time prosecute others. The blacks were asked time and again to just wait, to wait for new administration or to wait for the right time. It was apparent that the "donothingism" from the black community was not going to get them the rights that they deserved and desired. Man had taken the law into his own hands with total disregard to the bible and its teachings and Dr. King was there to call them back. Malcolm X maintained that racism was a product of the Western culture. He preached an alternative solution to the movement and the way it must be handled. He felt, as he said in 1965, that the African American men had been brainwashed by the white male to think that he was no more than a civil right domestic problem. Malcolm felt that the issues of the movement should not be handled as nonviolently as Dr. King exercised; he wanted to arm the blacks. Everyone was whispering about the "revolt" of the black people, but what Malcolm didn't understand was the content in which they were using the word
