Iraq's Nuclear Capabilities
Iraq is believed by many to be a world power with its nuclear weapons. However, this is not true. Inspectors have destroyed all equipment, facilities, and materials. During the now present day, Iraq has exactly no known facilities working on nuclear weapons. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports that no evidence of known nuclear activity has been reported. That statement in the source What Iraq Still Has states that "no evidence of any activity" does not mean that it has "evidence for no activity." This simply means that the agency has no evidence that there is nuclear activity, not that it has evidence that there is no activity. Iraq did use to have nuclear capabilities, but most was discovered and destroyed after their defeat in Desert Storm. Even with this information from the IAEA, there is still said to be secret nuclear progress being made by Iraq. IAEA has identified possible places where nuclear weapons could be constructed, has found equipment! used in the making of nuclear weapons, and has also found that Iraq has possession of nuclear materi
Ever since the discoveries of the labs, materials, and equipment, Iraqi authorities have become more open for discussion about their nuclear program. With theses discoveries, the full extent of prohibited nuclear activity in Iraq has not ceased. When Iraq is stated that they have no nuclear activity presently going, they were obviously lying. The reason this is in issue is that Iraq was prohibited to produce nuclear weapons after Desert Storm. This is why they were deceitful about their nuclear activity. As before the discoveries, there is no known nuclear activity in Iraq. Obviously there is always a possibility with the discoveries of all of the materials. No matter what the IAEA and UNCOM do, they will not be able to stop all nuclear activities in Iraq. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ElBaradei, Mohammed.
