EPA

The EPA is an organization who's sole purpose is to preserve the environment we live in. EPA stands for Environmental Protection Agency and is responsible for many Environmental holidays we celebrate today. Throughout this report I hope to give the reader some insight on the projects that the EPA has conducted in the past and present. Before we begin to look at the projects the EPA has conducted lets first find out what the EPA is all about.

The EPA was established as an independent agency on December 2, 1970. Before this however it was an organization that was just a vision. Effective protection of America's rivers, lakes, wetlands, aquifers, and coastal and ocean waters will sustain fish, plants, and wildlife, as well as recreational, subsistence, and economic activities. Watersheds and their aquatic ecosystems will be restored and protected to improve public health, enhance water quality, reduce flooding, and provide habitat for wildlife.

After British scientists report a giant hole in the Earth's protective atmospheric ozone layer, EPA joins an international convention in Vienna calling for worldwide cooperative efforts to eliminate use of substances that deplete the ozone layer.

SAFE FOOD: The foods Americans eat will be free from unsafe pesticide residues. Children especially will be protected from the health threats posed by pesticide residues, because they are among the most vulnerable groups in our society.
