Bilingual Country
I believe strongly that all immigrants that want to gain citizenship in the United States of America should be required to have Basic English skills before being granted citizenship. Our country is changing more for the immigrants than for ourselves. You see bi-lingual posters and sign all over these days. The pro-dominant language in the United States is English, so why should we be requiring schools and government offices to support multi-lingual documents. If foreign immigrants know basic English skills, then they will be able to communicate with us and make our lives easier. Schools all over the United States must provide an English and Spanish version of all textbooks. Even in central suburbia Colorado, Middle Schools, where there are few or none Spanish-speaking students, have textbooks that are completely in English but have a glossary in Spanish.
