MARGARET THATCHER

I was born, was born Margaret Hilda Roberts on Oct. 13, 1925, in Lincolnshire, England. I went to Oxford and majored in chemistry. After graduating, in 1947, my first job was as a research chemist for a plastics company in Essex. Afterwards, I started to study law and became involved in the legal practice. I also tried to help Mikhail Gorbachev on 1984 to loosen his governmental control over the Soviet economy. I tried to help convince US that Gorbachev was a good guy, sincere and trustworthy. In 1990, I sent a strong military force over to the Persian Gulf to try to help the US oppose Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

My bold and out spoken stand against Communism helped me get my nickname "The Iron Lady." I wasn't afraid to speak about anything and
