Evil and Good in Animal Farm
George Orwell's Animal Farm is an allegorical story which criticizes Communist Russia under Joseph Stalin's rule. It contains many allusions to Communist Russia that directly relate to the central theme of the novel: evil can prevail over good, especially when applied to government. Animal Farm's theme of evil prevailing over good is important to society because it shows how easy it is for a powerful leader to oppress the common people, like Joseph Stalin in Communist Russia. The central theme of Animal Farm is that evil government prevails while good is oppressed as long as the majority of the citizens are kept ignorant. After Old Major's speech of unity, the animals set out to form a Socialist utopia.
