Hero

A hero is someone who does what he is afraid to do. A hero has a mind of such a balance that no disturbances can shake his will, but merrily follows the music of his heart. Self-trust is what makes a person a hero, for if he does not trust in his capabilities he will not achieve what he proposes to himself. Someone who is a hero is temperate, hospitable, generous, and dauntless. A hero is someone who sacrifices his own life, not expecting any rewards.

Ralph Waldo Emerson defined hero as a person who is ashamed of its body, a person who obeys to a secret impulse of his character. A few populations in society inherit these qualities that Emerson stated. Not everyone risk his/her life to save others. When someone starts thinking of the peril he is going to face during the tragedy, this person is trying to demonstrate that hi

s life is more important than the lives of a mass of people. However, if a person who showed heroism during a difficult situation, and he expected to receive honors from others then this person is not a hero. Beowulf, a fictional figure, is an example of a hero.

Maria Martinez, my mother, has been my hero. Compared to Beowulf, she has sacrificed her time and her life to see me succeed. When I have been sick, she has been the only person to stop what she has been doing to attend me. She has been present at all moments in my life, and I know that the only reward she is expecting from me is success, and happiness. Maria does not sacrifice herself for me not because it is her responsibility as mother, but because she wants to give me a good perception of life. She is not expecting honors and gifts from me for all the things she has do
