Okonkwo was a man whom went through a lot throughout his lifetime. One thing he was certain about was that he did not want to be like his father's nature. His father in Okonkwo's eyes was a coward and a woman. Okonkwo felt if a man was a coward he was truly a woman, not a man. Okonkwo's father died owing money to everyone in the village, not owning any land, or having any sort f title to the clan of the village called Umuofia. He is determined to overcome the stigma left by his father's laziness and wastefulness.
