Let go of the ones you love
A detailed Summary of Let go of the ones you love
"Yea, sure honey, but be back by six."
"Could I stay out till eight o'clock pleeaaasseee?"
"No, it's either till six or not at all, got it?"
This is what my life was like when I was between the ages of four and ten, but not much has changed since then. Though I don't have to ask my mother each time I step out of the house, but more or less, I am still treated similar to the way I was treated when I was young. I am rarely allowed to visit any friend's house outside my compound and as for a slumber party, forget it buddy. I know that my parents love me plenty and that is the reason why they still have so many restrictions on me. They love me and want be to be safe to an extent that they don't even realize that they are being extremely over protective about me.
Just like every mundane summer, we went to visit Pakistan this summer too. Every time I come back from vacationing, my friends tell the adventures they had during their vacation when they went out with their friends and cousins. But when it's my turn to unravel my tales, they turn out to be extremely uninteresting and tedious compared to theirs. The thrill of being a young adult and having the freedom of going out alone is incompar

after half an hour of my pleading and crying, they finally decide to have mercy on me and allow me to go. But even then, I can't just go to my friend's house straight from school. I have to wait for my dad to come home from the office at five in the evening and then he is supposed to drop me off at my friend's house. Then, not only do I reach the party late, but I have to leave early too because I am not allowed to stay out later than ten in the night!
Usually once or twice a year, there is a friend of mine whose birthday comes up. This leads to her having a party to celebrate it and then, with the arrival of the invitation card, my weeping begins. As I had mentioned before, my parents are very controlling about the people and places I visit. Each time I want to go to a friend's house, I have to go through a series of stages before I can finally be permitted to go. It is quite similar to the metamorphosis of a butterfly. First I have to get the courage to ask them if I could go. Then they will take a day or two to "think" it over. Later, a day before the party to be exact, they make me sit down with them and practically ask me to give them a report to inform them the name of my friend, the reason for me to go there, and her whole family back ground. After they hear all this, their answer is usually the same banal answer, "no." Then my stage of sobbing starts, I get down on my knees and beg for them to permit me
