Over the past few weeks we have discussed the issue of race and the many forms of

discrimination into which it can be molded. Whether it is through preconceived stereotypes, racial

slurs, or a general phobia due to ignorance, racial discrimination in the classroom is a problem that

is rarely addressed. Only through teaching racial awareness to our students can we begin to solve

this problem that can alienate and hinder a child's given right to an equal opportunity education.
