Athletes - getting the yellow brick road to college
There are more and more colleges being built everyday in the USA. Each day colleges improve their facilities, athletics, their population, and other things as well. Understanding why colleges spend their money on things that really don't need to be spent on really annoys me. I can understand trying to spend money on new buildings for academic purposes, aiding more with kids who don't get a scholarship or even using more money towards the classroom needs. This scholarship thing has gotten to be so ridiculous and I have come to complain. I think money that is spent on athletes is ridiculous and should be considered some evaluating.
First of all, the fact that athletes have an aire about them annoys me. When you walk to class or go to eat lunch, you can definitely pick out the athletes. They are bullying their way around and they are so loud that I can't even hear myself talk to my "normal" friends. You are not cool unless you are an athlete. I even go to speak sometimes and they look at me like, "why are you over here?" Why should us "normal" people be treated differently than the athletes? They can walk around, or should I say strut around, and think that they have
it made without having to earn it at all. To me that is crazy. Sometimes I wonder if I could walk around with my head swollen and walking like a model and get some money forked out to me to attend college.
I think athletes wouldn't be so negative in my mind if they just appreciated what they were receiving. It kills me when I go to class and see the athletes on the front row talking to the professors about a test they missed a month ago and the professor gladly lets them re-take it. If I went to a professor and asked to re-take a test just because I wasn't here, he/she would laugh in my face. Athletes get way too much attention than they really need. They know that they can get away with anything in the classroom and be on their merry way. Professors show too much favoritism towards athletes. I definitely know that athletes don't do the assignments in class but they can somehow manage a "B" in the class. That is amazing to me and I will complain about it till I die.
An average day for an athlete consists like this: Wake up late because I'm sure they wouldn't have to get up for any practices in the morning, go eat anywhere they choose because everything is paid for, maybe go to a class or two and I'm sure the coaches don't check to see if they are in class, might have to go to some kin
