Belgians had used the Hamitic Myth. The Hutu was there first and the Tutsi had invaded, but there is no evidence of this. Europeans thought nobles were tall and thin. Tutsi were tall and thin, so they must be descendants from Ethiopia, which they regarded as the most superior of africans. In Burundi there was no such conquest.
