White Man Falling
A detailed Summary of White Man Falling
We live in a country that is commonly referred to as a "melting pot." Our country is referred to this because of the vast diversity of races in our country. As America grows and society grows, we have come to accept the different races willingly. Although the general population has accepted the racial diversity, there are still some people among us that have not and never will. These people belong to what is called, " white supremacist groups." Groups such as the Klu Klux Klan are very well organized and have hundreds of thousands of members world wide. They hold a belief that the "pure blooded" white race is superior to all others and they think that any other race should fail to exist. With the racial diversity in America growing every day there is the ever present fear that these groups will reunite and avenge their beliefs. In Abby L. Ferber's book White Man Falling she assesses the negative influences that non-white races pose on "pure blooded" whites. Ferber als!
o points out that the white supremacist views and ideals are stemmed from a belief that it is vital to their cause to have racial segregation and that the white people resume control of this nation.

Law is sometimes to blame in stirring up controversy amongst races also. In recent history two big cases caught the attention of both the white race and black race. The Rodney King case for example portrayed several white Los Angeles police officers beating a unarmed black male on video tape. The media portrayed the whole event as excessive but they again did not tell the whole story. The black man earlier in the tape resisted arrest. As a result of this case there were riots and several other events involving the black community. Another case is the OJ Simpson trial. Here a black male allegedly killed two white people. The actual event wasn't the real issue like it should be, it turned into a matter of blacks killing whites. The verdict no matter what was decided was bound to cause problems. In one hand if OJ was found guilty it would have been considered racist, and if he was found innocent the white community would have blamed it on him being black so he got of. !
In Ferber's book she talks about the overwhelming privileges that the white race carries. In television and cinema whites are always the lead roles usually with a non-white race as a side kick or co staring role. Whites are just automatically casted for lead roles and non-white races are seen in movies as villains or subservient roles. In sports whites that once were all you saw in professional sports are now in the background. Black athletes have stolen the spotlight and it has pissed several white activists off. For example football and basketball and baseball all have predominately black "superstar" players. In golf the best golfer on the tour is a young black man. Not only is a black man but he is also half-Asian. In the recent issue of Sports Illustrated Tiger Woods was interviewed and one of the questions he was asked was," do you deal with race discrimination in your sport?" His reply was yes, he feels that it is worth it though, he has single handedly opened u!
In this day and age it is sad that the judicial system must tiptoe around issues that would be considered racist to avoid confr
