Coliform Bacterial Contamination in Tanyard Creek
Fecal-Coliform Bacterial Concentrations On March 3rd our lab assignment was to walk to Tanyard Creek, located near the Tate Center parking lot, on the campus of the University of Georgia. We took measured many water quality parameters at or near base flow; conductivity, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, nitrate and silica, pH, alkalinity and turbidity. Samples were taken at both low and high flow conditions to measure the total amount of fecal-coliform bacteria in the stream and the Biochemical Oxygen Demand of the water. This data will comprise the main thrust of this report. All measurements of water quality were taken directly in the field, except for the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and fecal-coliform bacteria counts.
