Beethoven compared to Mozart

Beethoven and Mozart: Two Great Composers

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van Beethoven are two of the most well know and respected composers of all time. Over one hundred and fifty years after their lives their music is still studied, enjoyed and respected. These two great composers had different styles of composing music, and performing.

Mozart and Beethoven were both born with extremely rare gifts of musical ability and displayed them early on in life. Mozart was a child prodigy. By the age of five he was able to reproduce a melody played to him on the piano. He was also able to play the violin extremely well. It didn't come quite as naturally to Beethoven. He was not the prodigy that Mozart was as a child. When Beethoven was born, Mozart was already a well know composer. His father forced him into practicing the piano for hours a day and punished whenever he made a mistake, hoping he would become the next Mozart. When Beethoven went deaf, and his nephew Karl tried to committee suicide he became very depressed, but never gave up on music. Although he did not compose much during the custody battle between himself and his sister-in law Johanna over Karl. Mozart never gave up on his music at any point during his life either.

>From 1771 to 1772 Mozart composed at least eight symphonies. These symphonies were written after he returned from a trip to Italy. The Fifteenth Symphony is very a very entertaining piece of music. Throughout the composition most of the instruments are played lightly, and gracefully. Throughout the symphony I felt a sense of anticipation that something exciting was about to happen.

Mozart's third symphony "Eroica" was originally written in honor of Napoleon. He was a great leader and an advocate for French freedom. When Napoleon crowned himself emperor in 1804, Beethoven quickly tore up the title page, which was entitled Bonaparte.

Beethoven unlike Mozart never got married. He often had love affairs with women of nobility, who were married. He has been said to have hated women. The only woman he seemed to have any attachment to was his Immortal Beloved. However, nobody knew who this woman was. Mozart however, feel in-love with a young woman by the name of Constanze Weber.
