A detailed Summary of Divine Intervention


In The Odyssey four out of the twelve main gods inch their way into Odysseus'

voyages to get him home. These four are Athena, goddess of wisdom; Zeus, king of the

gods; Hermes, the messenger god; and Posiedon, god of the sea.

Athena advises Telemachus at his home in Ithaca. She, disguised as a mentor, tells

him what he must do to get his father back and get rid of the suitors. She goes on the

voyage to help Telemachus with his speech and postu
