One Writers Beginnings Aurora Welty
1) Aurora Welty wrote a section of her life as a book because she wanted others to learn from her experiences. She made a lot of very important accomplishments. She graduated after four years of college , and completed her lifetime goal: to become a writer.
Her first book, "Lilly Dow and the three ladies" was published in the winter of 1937. She went on to publish around 20 more books in the next 43 years. In 1979, she won the National Medal for Literature.
2) Aurora had many obstacles to overcome in order to fulfill her ultimate dream. Aurora lived a very sheltered life. All the family had were their books. This helped Aurora to have a widened intelligence for writing later in life. Her father discouraged her dream to become a writer. He said it would never get her an

ywhere. Despite this, she stuck to her dream and ended out on top.

As a child, Aurora's family discovered that she had a heart problem. She had irregular heart beats and was tired a lot. She was bedridden for a year and had to skip the 3rd grade. This obstacle from learning was overcome by Aurora's mother. Every day, she would sit by her bedside and teach her the things that were in the few books the family owned.
