Opinions on whether it should be taught range from the idea that teaching it will decrease teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases to the belief that it should be banned nationwide. Those who agree that sex education should be taught in school also believe that this type of education needs to start as early as kindergarten to ensure sexually responsible adults. Those who don't agree with this type of education feel that children should not be subjected to this kind of 'talk'. They feel that if sex education must be in the school system, then abstinence should be taught instead of just the safe-sex program. Either way people look at it, sex education will most likely never leave the school systems anytime soon. People need to realize that teaching sex education does not reduce teen pregnancy or reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
