bible and women

People read The Bible for many different reasons, such as it is just a part of their faith so they have to. Others read it because the stories are interesting, and still others read the stories because of the moral and ethical messages the stories convey. Many people, when reading The Bible, do not go deep into the readings to examine other things in the stories such as the characters, the narration, and also the underlying themes that are beneath the main message. These elements are an important part of reading the stories because they can help a reader discover other parts to the story that may be more helpful to that reader than the main message. It is also important to take a close look at the narration so a reader can better understand just what it is the writer is trying to say.

The Book of Genesis is full of stories and characters that set the stage for the entire Bible. Genesis has some of the most notable stories from The Bible, such as Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and also Joseph. Most people can read or hear these stories and recognize all the main themes like jealousy and sin as a whole. However, most people don't examine the stories close enough to find the themes that are hidden below the major ones. A ma

After Genesis you really see how women have moved up from earlier portrayals in the Bible to be in positions of power and authority. I think the best example to illustrate this point comes from the book of Judges. Judges 4 is a great story showing how far women have come since the Book of Genesis. There is a woman prophetess, Deborah, who tells the leaders of Israel about the plan to destroy the army of Sisera, an enemy of the Israelites. Women have gone from simply being child bearers to having prophetic visions that help their people. The end of Judges 4 is a great metaphor about how things have changed. Sisera as mentioned earlier fled from the site of the battle and ran to a woman's tent. Jael, the woman, invites him in and attempts to comfort him. Sisera orders her to draw him some water. She gives him milk and then he orders her to wait outside and tell no one where he is. Jael instead drives a spike into his head and into the ground. This is a great story beca!

bout because a woman couldn't resist temptation. The story also shows how man didn't have a major part in the origin of sin because he didn't know that the fruit was from the forbidden tree. Again this puts the blame solely on the woman. Women are right away put down in comparison to men as The Bible starts.

Genesis starts off with probably the most famous story in The Bible and that is the creation story and Adam and Eve. Eve is made for the sole purpose of helping Adam and being his companion. Genesis 2:18 says," The Lord God said,' It is not good for man to be alone; I will make a fitting helper for him." So to start, Woman was made only so that man wouldn't get lonely and also because he needed help, nothing more. The story then goes further and depicts Eve, woman, as a nieve and easily influenced person when the serpent leads her into eating the forbidden fruit. Genesis 3:12 says, "The man said, 'The woman You put at my side-she gave me of the tree and I ate.' And the Lord God said to woman, "What is this you have done!" The woman replied, "The serpent duped me and I ate." The main theme in the creation story is how things came to be and the origin of sin. However, the story also shows how sin and many of the hardships that men and women both have to deal with came a!
