Jimmy Stewart

A sword between two stones can turn out to be a problem. Two forces working against one another are the reasons for the dilemma. This predicament can be overcome, and the sword can be free if the two forces work with one another. An additional dilemma is deciding how these two forces are going to work with one another. Jimmy Stewart put two implausible ideals at work, his lifestyle and his acting. These two characteristics helped Stewart receive the amount of praise and honor that one can only wish for. "Stewart has captured the essence of American hopes, doubts, and aspirations" ("A Legendary" 1). He performed more as a priest for all moviegoers who absorbed his personality like a sponge in water. However, the audience noticed that his acting was not far from the way he lived. Jimmy Stewart's lifestyle and acting career helped America through times of depression and World War II.

George Washington set a standard of leadership by being the first President of America. However, one does not have to be a President or nationally known to set a precedent. Everyday citizens set precedents for others. One of those everyday citizens was Jimmy Stewart. He created a standard that was more important than a rubric for pres

As times were sluggish during the 1930's, Stewart acted just the opposite. Some of Stewart's most famous films were created during the depression. During this time period, some people went to the government for help; others went to their favorite actors. The economics of the movie industry changed forever as Stewart became the first famous actor to accept a percentage of the gross earnings of a film as payment for his acting (Strauss 27). Stewart had such faith in his films that he could put his salary on the line to help out the directors. This act by Stewart made him a millionaire (Strauss 14) but more importantly it made people during the depression rise beyond the feelings of defeat and despair. "He i!

Though statistics show that economics and sociality were at an all time low throughout the hard-hitting times of the depression. Stewart did not show a sign of slowing down. His perfect life and perfect human qualities were refulgent in this time of dreariness. People held their heads low yet high enough to search for a savior. Jimmy Stewart was the man they needed. Stewart was made a leader because he was an ordinary man. This typicality gave Jimmy an upper hand over the other actors and actresses who stood out because they were different from the public. "Jimmy Stewart embodied all-American virtues with his easy going manner and his reassuring drawl" (Strauss 14). Without being vigorous in his actions, Stewart could still direct people out of the depression. And he did just that.
