A detailed Summary of pride and predige
Pride and Prejudice is a story that deals with ordinary life and involves people's choices. The most outstanding choice and a continually returning theme is marriage. The choice to marry varies upon the opinions of those who are judging. Throughout the book, there are five primarily presented views on marriage. Each opinion is presented by a unique character who has a different status, different life or society.
Miss Elizabeth Bennet is on of the characters who could never believe herself to marry without being deeply in love. Miss Charlotte Lucas views marriage as a means of happiness and security. Other views of marriage are all about alliance, overall security for the family or for themselves, or obligation of position. Each opinion has it own views. Miss Elizabeth Bennet who is the second oldest of five daughters says that she absolutely will not marry unless being in the state of madly love. But will they make you happy?" (Pg 316).
s. Since money is so important, Wickham tries to get with Georgiana Darcy only because of her fortune since the property of a woman automatically becomes the property of the husband in the marriage. Marriage was therefore a great security for a happy life since there was nothing like the social security, old age pensions or health insurances we are provided with today. "If you go on refusing every offer of marriage, you will never get a husband and I am sure I do not know who is to maintain you when your father is dead."(Pg 97) Mrs. Bennet t
