is the criminal justice system racist

Is the Criminal Justice System Racist

The first question that I will reflect upon will be "What does Guiner mean when she says that if we can't talk about race then we can't talk about crime? Is there reluctance in our society to deal squarely with issues of race and crime? If so why?"

Ms. Guiner's quote means that race and crime go hand in hand. Without race then there cannot be crime. Although as a society, we should not be so judgmental as to say that only certain races commit crimes. Because we all know that, every single race commits crimes. The black people are the ones who tend to commit more crimes because of their living situations such as poverty and joblessness, to name a few. Many black men turn to drugs to support their families, which in turn leads to crime.

There is reluctance in American society to talk about race and crime because race is a touchy subject. Everything in today's society has to be politically correct. One has to be very careful what they write or say because of the fear of what might happen if someone misunderstood what the real meaning to their statement was. For that reason, when a person talks about race and crime many individuals may interpret their opinions differently. Therefore, many pe

I think that the criminal justice system is discriminatory for many reasons. The main reason is Pretext Stopping. Police may catch some criminals due to pretext stops, however; more people that are innocent are likely to be affected by these practices than are the true criminals. The black community as a whole undoubtedly needs the protection of police officers more than any other segment of the American society, because African Americans are more likely to be victimized by crime. Ironically, the members of this same community are likely to feel the consequences of pretext stops and to be treated like criminals. The majority of pretext stops are black individuals. They are subjected to humiliation and have done nothing wrong. This case is typically called "driving while black." Blacks attract attention from police whether they do anything to bring it upon themselves or not. Police are allowed to stop, question, and sometimes even search drivers without regard to the real moti!

The "criminalblackman" myth is a stereotype of a young black man. Many perceive black men more dangerous, sinister, and evil than white men. This myth is not true. Many young white men out there are just as dangerous and evil as the young black men but no one stereotypes them as "criminalwhitemen". Since the young black men have been identified as crimi
