Moreover, in the movie and in the book, he helps Wart and Arthur to overcome the obstacles that each has to surpass. In the book, Merlin helps Wart to learn how to become a good king through the lessons that he teaches Wart. In the movie, however, Merlin helps Arthur to defeat Morgana by using his magic against her in her own dreams.

oth of them ask Merlin to teach them how to be a better king and how "to be wise, not to be rash." (Quote Arthur says in the movie.)

In the movie and in the book, Arthur and Wart show many similarities and differences of archetype of a hero.
