This story is about a ten year old boy named Lewis Barnevelt whose parents are killed in a car accident. It took place in 1948. Lewis has to move in with his Uncle Jonathan. Jonathan lived in New Zebedee, Michigan, Lewis had never met his uncle. Jonathan's house was a mansion. Lewis liked the house and his uncle. His uncle turned out to be a warlock.
