Shakespeare's globe

The Globe Theater was the most famous and interesting theater in the Elizabethan era. It was built outside of London, after the triumphant reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Many of William Shakespeare's plays were written and performed there. "As Mike Constabile was reporting he added, " The idea of creating plays and theaters to perform them in was a strange new concept for the Europeans of the Elizabeth Era" (Shakespeare's Globe Theater).

The Globe began construction in 1596, James Burbage was in the process of spending a lot on money to convert and old friary into an indoor theater. The commoners disapproved of the construction because they were afraid of the disturbances that might be caused by the theater. After Burbages death in 1597, his family was facing ruin. They had a building that wasn't


Every year two of Shakespeare's plays were performed for the first time. The joy of seeing the actors perform Shakespeare's works was genius and most fun to watch. To help with building the theater, they used the wood from the other theater and brought to the new one, which saved a lot of money. But in other funds many people invested in "sharers", which are almost like stocks. Five people bought these shares, no other theater was ever owned by the same players that use it. The advantage was that the company was saved of rent fees and gave the Globe a permanent home. Shakespeare was one of the investors that really made the globe his.
