Pioneers in Education

There are many questions dealing with pioneers in education. A lot people do not know any of the great pioneers in education. As you read this report you learn about some of the greatest educational pioneers. When reading this report, you will become more familiar with two great educational pioneers. The first pioneer you will become familiar with is Jan Komensky or Comenuis. The second pioneer is John Dewy, who was one of the important American philosophies. As you continue to read this report, you will see how each of the pioneers influenced our schools of today.

Jan Komensky (1592-1670), known as Comenuis was born in Nivintz (a Moravian town in Europe). He lived during the religious war between the Catholics and the Protestants. Comenuis was a bishop educator of the Moravian Brethren. Hoping to end the religious wars, he created a new educational philosophy called pansophism. His main purpose was cultivating a universal understanding. Comenuis believed that universally shared knowledge would stimulate a love of wisdom that would overcome national and religious hatreds and create a peaceful world order.
