A detailed Summary of Likes and dislikes


To me, the best kind of writing or reading is a story that gives a lesson or provokes thought. Reading a story that has a lesson gives me a sense of purpose for reading it. "The Necklace," by Guy de Maupassant is such a story. Mathilde, the main character, is a materalistic and unappreciative person, but wit a few obstacles she changes her ways and learns a very important lesson. Thus, because Mathilde does learn a lesson, the story is extremely likable. The story's appeal results from Mathilde's strong character, ability to change, and the lesso
