The 1950's had some of the most influential events in it that shaped the movie industry. As the country was moving from a war worried place to the new utopia of the "Golden Age" there were many aspects of society that played a part in movie making. America was an untouchable nation with a very free attitude, but when women wanted to take part in movies we, as a nation, rejected the idea of women in leading roles. When the Second World War came to an end, there were many soldiers that came home to the US and found that the American dream was more obtainable then ever before. The dream of owning a home and having a wife and kids was much more real. The movie industry saw a great opportunity to capitalize on this. They made movies such as Sunset Boulevard, which was a great “date” movie that couples could go to. The movie theaters practically doubled ticket sales.
