Does that mean we can use that as an excuse for us being unable to prevent the violence arising today? Violence in school is growing; what are we as individuals and as a society going to do about this insane problem? So far today many ideas have surfaced and of course blame is being given. The way that the world is today, if something drastic doesn't get done we're going to be in for the ride of our lives. Today the schools are so huge that the teachers don't the luxury of really getting to know their students. That makes it easy for kids to slip through the cracks. It's weird that the kids that have been recently been committing these crimes have been the ones that go unnoticed. Eric Harris and Dylan Kleblod were the kids that got made fun of. They wernt important to the social aspect of the school and when they got fed-up with being teased they took action. We may not think that those around us are capable of doing what was done at Columbine or recently in Southern California, but it is possible. If we don't take severe action this violence is going to literally blow up in our faces.

Still, experts are encouraged by the broad range of strategies schools are taking - a mix of law enforcement, high standards, after-school programs, and family involvement.
