Tom Joad has just got out of prison and returns home. He finds his home deserted. Nothing is left but a cat. He finds his family at Uncle John's house. As it turns out, The Joad family has been evicted and lost their home. They fight as hard as they can to keep their land, yet nothing will change.

I learned about how larger corporations took advantage of the poor, oblivious working class in the 30's. They worked so hard only to be cheated by those who had more than enough. This book made me realize that not all of the United States was prosperous. There were those who struggled for survival and many that died because of the wealthy, unmerciful people. Many of the common people were deceived for the sake of major companies making a few extra dollars.
