AIDS is one of the largest growing epidemics in our country as well as the world. 35 million people are infected with HIV: One out of every 99 people in the world between the ages of 15 to 59 is infected with HIV. This number is growing larger everyday. In the year 2000, 6 million more people were infected with the virus: 25 percent of all newly infected people are teen; 50 percent of all newly infected people are 25 years old or younger. If parents won't discuss this then as a coach I have an obligation to be up front with my student athletes to let them know that having unprotected sex is putting them and their partner at risk of getting AIDS or HIV. Unprotected sex not only puts them at risk but the entire team. Student athletes need to be made aware of this risk that having unprotected sex does not just affect them it affects the entire team. It my job as the coach to keep my team healthy I must do what I can to insure this
