web course humanities
I. Chapter One Overall Grade: "A"Egypt and Mesopotamia - Chapter one is never a problem because it's the beginning of the semester and everyone is usually very interested in getting started. Overall I give these sites an "A", because of the foundation they laid for the rest of the semester. It did involve a little reading but it was an excellent set of assignments to begin with. My favorite site was the "Venus of Willendorf" it really gives you a sense of the significance art has on our history. For some reason, I was intrigued by the statue and the historical facts and myths that it has carried throughout the generations. Although the chapter overall was a great intro for what was to come, I thought Gilgamesh was a little bit long and boring. I felt neither pleased not displeased with that section of the web assignment. II. Chapter Two Overall Grade: "C" Early Greece - Chapter two seemed to loose some of my attention. It required even more reading than chapter one. Overall I gave the assignments a "C" because of the sites titled "Daedalus and Icaus", "Making Sense of Herodotis", and "The Persian Wars". Too much reading with little interaction with the actual subjects, and it was bor
The High Middle Ages - I really enjoyed reading the Canterbury Tales and comparing it to the translations. And the story about Thomas Beckett was interesting but sad. Both were very good educational sites to research and learn from. The rest of the assignment was humdrum glossary words and facts. The "Divine Comedy" was long and drawn out. The chapter overall was neither good nor bad. The Baroque World - I have added Vermeer to my list of favorite painters, thanks to this web assignment. I really enjoyed all that this assignment had to offer. It was a very good way to view Vermeer's work and learn about the artist's background. Another favorite was the "Hall of Mirrors", it is simply exquisite. I would love to actually see this for myself. It must be breathtaking. XVI. Chapter Sixteen Overall Grade: "A" XVII. Chapter Seventeen Overall Grade: "A" Early Renaissance - What a fun site, very educational and interactive. It was a nice change from all the reading in much of the previous chapter's assignments. The Mona Lisa sites were very amusing and cool to send to friends. I really had a lot of fun with this assignment and I think your future students will also. IX. Chapter Nine Overall Grade: "B" Well, that's about it. I enjoyed my web class very much and I learned a lot. It was a fun and entertaining course and the teacher is exceptional. (Im not trying for brownie points, just being honest) The only problem I could see with it is that you don't get a chance to hear the long-winded names that you need to remember, it makes it a little harder. My only regret is that I got behind and could not catch up my assignments on time. It's hard to catch up in a web class because you are simply on your own for most of the time. I know that now, unfortunately. Below is a list of assignment that I picked as "keepers" and ones that I thought you could replace. Thanks for your time and patience. God Bless. IV. Chapter Four Overall Grade: "A"
