Alice Walker writes about her own experiences and how she loves people. Every book she has written has been based on her past experiences. She helps people move threw love and loss and healing of love again. She is one of the most celebrated authors of modern time.

Alice Walker was born on February 9, 1944 in Georgia. Her parents did not have much money because they were sharecroppers. Walkers parents had much love for their children ( Walker 1). Alice , while playing around with her brothers was blinded in her eye by bb pellet. Alice got the bb remover but her vision never returned (Walker 1). According to Alice, " During childhood, " She said, " I was not aware their was segregation or that it was designed to make me feel bad. White people just seemed very alien and strange to me ( Gentry 21).

Walker writes about her own experiences. And her respect for people, sex, love. She writes about all the changes in her life. ( Walker np). In 1961 she graduated and went to Spelman College in Atlanta. Her mom gave her three things before she left : " sewing machine for self suffientcy , suitcase for independence and a type writer for creativity " (Walker 1). According to Richard Wesley, In The Color Purple he said, " That Walker is reminded men of their failures and also women. That black is beautiful but not always right" (Walker np). Walker stated in 1996 she published The Same River Twice honoring the Difficult. This was a sad book but decribed many things the loss of her mother.The relationship of Robert and her own battle of lymes disease and her sense of bi- sexuality. The book also talks about The Color Purple and how she remembered how it became a film ( walker 3).

The south was not the best thing for her so she went to Mississippi. She met a Jewish law student named Mel Leventhal and went back to Georgia with him as he attended law school (Walker 2). Levethal helped her with her writing. " The Civil Rights movement: What Good was A won her first place in American scholar magazine essay contest (Walker 2). Walker and Leventhal got married and back to Mississippi where he could finish his civil rights litigation. Even though they were different races, they still work through. She worked as a history teacher had cases on NAACP Alice found out she was pregnant again; but it was good because it would hold Leventhal from Vietnam draft ( Walker 2).
