Among the many different family of monkey that walks this earth, the Chimpanzee is the closest living relative of human beings. Between the two species lies the most striking resemblances such a; biochemical, physiological, and anatomical as well as behavioral. In addition to these similarities, the Chimpanzee's life cycle is not much different from that of a human. The chimpanzee goes through a seven years childhood, which is followed by a period of maturity. As in the case of the female in the wild, becomes capable of producing offspring at the age of 11 to 13 years old. The male chimpanzee also reaches the age of sexual maturity at about the same age as the female chimps. Even though that male becomes sexually mature, it would be another two to three years before he is fully integrated or accepted in the society of adult males. His maximum weight, which ranges between 105 to 121 pounds, is not attained until he reaches the age of 20 years old.

Both male and female chimpanzee that are in captivity reaches sexual maturity much earlier, and also gains weight much faster. Chimps that are in the age group of 35 to 40 years old are considered to be at the beginning of old age, whereas the greatest age of chimpanzees in


the zoo is approximately 55 years old which is approximately a difference of 15 to 20 years. Like humans, these creatures are able to contract infectious disease that are found in men, illnesses like infantile paralysis and pneumonia are often found in these animals. As is becoming clear that the chimp's intellectual capacity in on a far higher level, than was formerly supposed by researchers all over the world. Many of these researchers that have worked with chimpanzees unanimously reports that the animal's expressions of feelings are similar to that of humans emotions such as; Joy, Grief, Curiosity, Fear, Rage, etc.

Often chimps will use or prepare and use objects that are to be used as tools. They will strip the leaves from a branch or remove the bark from a stick. They use leaves as a washcloth to remove dirt or blood from their bodies. They also use leaves like sponges to pick up rainwater our of moles in the tree trunks when they cannot reach it with their lips. Chimpanzee's population in the different parts of Africa uses different things as tools. For example, in West Africa Chimps use stones as hammer to open hard shelled nuts, these difference in the use of tools represent the tradition that is passed on from generation to generation by the young watching and imitating the old, and mastering what they have seen by constant practice.

The sexual cycle of a female is characterized by Tumescence and Detumescence of her genital parts. The whole cycle averages 38 days, during which the period of detumescence includes two to four days of menstruation. The full swelling last for a period of ten days that coincide with estrus, in
