Captain John Smith was a great political and historical figure in United States

History. He is always going to be remembered in our American History as a great and

honest leader. He went through many trials and tribulations and came out of it a very

knowledgeable person. From the time he was captured by a Turk soldier and sold as a

slave, the time he was captured in Powhatans camp, and when Smith was in England how

he became involved with the London Charter to colonize Virginia. And a great historical

perspective of Smith and Pocahontas.

Captain John Smith was a truly honest man, and of his accounts Pocahontas did

save his life from Powhatan and his tribe. Smith had motives though, and those motives

made him keep quiet for a long period of time. When Smith first started to write about his

captivities in Powhatans camp, he never mentioned Pocahontas. After Pocahontas and her

husband, John Rofle died, only then did Smith mention anything about Pocahontas. And

Smith hid several other facts too. For example his writings and pictures were different
