The modal model of memory, there are three different "stores" in which information is processed. These three stores each have a different duration, capacity, coding, and reason for forgetting. In the sensory store the duration is less than one second, the capacity is great and it the information is coded by sensory processing. In sensory store we forget information because of decay, which is the fading away of information.
